How to Resist Stagnation for Your Business Through SEO

A recession is on its way. Now, the main focus is on survival. Some people even report prospering amid tough times.

About the impending recession and how to get ready for it, every media outlet has at least a few stories. Recession is rarely mentioned as a given by authorities, although it is frequently mentioned in the media.

Of course, it's possible that chance will favor us all and we'll escape a recession. However, it appears as though the odds are against us right now, therefore it's time to stop disregarding the articles warning us to be prepared for the worst (and hope for the best, naturally).

If you now rely on PPC, especially SEM, I suggest shifting some of that spending to SEO. It is smart to start developing something that doesn't require a continual investment because you cannot predict how long you will be able to pay for advertisements in the medium-term future.

As an illustration, a blog post from my firm that was published in 2017 (! ), ranks for a crucial term for us, "employ SEO copywriters," and continues to generate leads today. What more could you ask for, especially during a recession, than one piece and years of income without further investment?

Use SEO as a tool for forecasting

You may utilize your content library for purposes other than generating traffic and leads if you already have one. It might serve as the foundation for your trend analysis. To find out which of your content articles had the most hits in the last month, log into your Google Search Console. What has changed from the previous three or six months?

Do you see a trend here? If so, you could have just noticed a new trend, such as increasing demand for one of your goods or services or decreasing desire for another.

Keep flexible and prepared to change things up.

In a recession, things are different. For instance, your content strategy was probably centered on attracting customers while the economy was flourishing.

You might need to reorganize during a difficult economic period and refocus on top-of-the-funnel chances. There may be fewer possibilities to close sales, but there are unquestionably more chances to interact with fresh leads, make new relationships, and more.

To survive a recession, you must take action while you can. If you are currently unable to promote your high-ticket items, it may be time to reevaluate your content strategy and consider your options for getting back on track. You shouldn't stop viewing stuff and wait for the storm to pass. Be there to provide individuals in need with refuge by providing them with pertinent information.

Take Advantage of Trends

Trends alter more quickly than normal in uncertain times (did you miss this term?). Do you recall how popular at-home exercises and pet adoption became throughout the lockdowns? They moved as quickly as they arrived.

When others were struggling to make ends meet, the businesses that anticipated these needs prospered. Why did they succeed? They only profited from new trends.

They didn't hold back until everyone in need of an online fitness trainer got in touch with them. Instead, they streamed exercises live from their now-empty gym.

Google Trends is a useful tool for identifying trends before they fade completely. You can enter a keyword associated with your sector to observe how the search for it develops. Given that the issue at hand is the recession, here is an illustration.

Recession's 5-year trend graph shows two significant spikes: the first occurred when the epidemic initially began and recession expectations were at their highest. The search traffic decreased since it didn't happen right away, but it later increased as a result of the war in Eastern Europe, increases in oil and gas costs, and other comparable "goodies."
